With the IDIADA approval, this warning light is officially approved as “V16 Dispositivo de preseñalización de peligro”.

It is thus legally recognized as a replacement or supplement to the warning triangle and may be carried in the vehicle to increase safety in an emergency. The tested warning light meets all requirements of Royal Decree 2822/1998, Annex XI, V-16 (“Dispositivos de preseñalización de peligro”) and thus complies with the legal regulations for road traffic in Spain and the EU.

The printed test number IDIADA PC21020060 on the product guarantees the authenticity and traceability of the tested model.

What is a V16 warning light?

The V16 warning light is a compact, all-around visible LED flashing light that is placed on the vehicle roof in case of a breakdown or accident. It replaces the conventional warning triangle by warning widely of a stationary vehicle – without the driver having to leave the car.

Is the V16 warning light mandatory from 2026?

Yes, from January 1, 2026, the use of a connected V16 warning light with GPS and integrated data transmission will be legally required in Spain. The classic warning triangle will be completely replaced by this. The connected light must automatically transmit the location to the Spanish traffic authority (DGT).

Note: This regulation applies to vehicles with Spanish registration. For foreign vehicles, the use is recommended but (still) not mandatory.

How does GPS tracking and data transmission work?

When switched on or placed on the vehicle roof, the light automatically activates and transmits the exact location to the DGT 3.0 platform via the built-in eSIM – the central traffic control center in Spain.
